A girl who wants to do something for the first time, often, so she will!
"Traveling - it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller." -iban Battuta
Yes, you read that right! Lately my blog posts have been about traveling to new places but the entirety of my blog is about me doing something new! So...what's new with me? I now manage a prodigious hip hop/rap artist who will take 2018 by storm due to his versatility, drive and ability to make music that people can actually relate to! Midnite Blu is a Floridian who currently lives in Tacoma, WA. His music is refreshing, heartfelt, rhapsodic and filled with great instrumental sounds like bass, keyboard and melodic rhymes. What makes Blu a cut above the rest is he makes his own beats and writes his own rhymes. He has 2 albums on all media outlets: #ItsBlu Vol.1 and a co-lab album with YoungDyno titled BluDynoMic.
I can hype him up all day but I'd rather let his music speak for itself! Here's his iTunes link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/midnite-blu/1297665872 If you'd like to book a show, schedule an appearance or work with Midnite Blu to create magic, you can email me at [email protected]. Midnite Blu's social media info: Facebook: Omari Mac Instagram: Therealmidniteblu Snapchat: Omarimac7 Twitter: Omari_Mac For many independent artists like Blu, remaining independent and in control of your brand is a must. You have more jurisdiction over your projects and there are less hands in the pot/cooks in the kitchen. Being creative and resourceful is also essential - there are several sites that enable artists to pitch directly to venues and book their own tours. Resources like Sellaband, Pledge Music, Kickstarter and others enable artists to raise money for recordings, videos, tours, and more. Music libraries and licensing agents (like those found at Music Library Report) offer assistance with music placements in Film & TV productions. Digital distributors like Orchard, CD Baby, Tunecore, IODA and others offer musicians a means to distribute their music directly to fans via iTunes, etc. Social media networks (Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc) make it possible for artists to handle publicity duties themselves. You may now be asking yourself if the above is true, why have a manager? Well, my role is less that of an advocate and cheerleader (don't get me wrong, I am his biggest fan), but more that of an analyst and advisor. The division of labor in the artist/manager relationship is for Blu to concentrate on writing and recording songs, rehearsing and performing live shows, and growing and engaging his fan base; while I analyze data and make strategic recommendations based on the information gathered. I help figure out things including, but not limited to:
I also decided to manage Midnite Blu because I love music. Music does so many good things:
I currently also manage one of the largest departments at a very prestigious medical clinic in Seattle, WA so I am no stranger to this type of work. There are many differences between managing an artist and a department of 73 (which includes receptionists, Medical Assistants and RNs) but there are also a lot of similarities. I look forward to Blu's music touching many lives and providing the above benefits. Be sure to check out his music! You won't be disappointed!
